California Civil Code section 3342 provides that the owner of a dog is strictly liable for the damages caused to a person bitten by their dog. That means that if you are on public property or lawfully on private property (including the property of the dog owner) and are bitten by a dog, the owner of that dog is responsible for your damages regardless of whether that dog has bitten anybody in the past or has shown a propensity to bite in the past. If you are the victim of a dog bite, contact us so that we can assist you in pursuing the maximum amount of recovery to which you are entitled for such a traumatic experience.
